Holst St Paul’s Suite
Mozart Violin Concerto No 5 (Turkish)
Sibelius Romance
Haydn Symphony No 57

Holst’s four movement St Paul’s Suite features witty and at times humorous settings of four English folk songs. Mozart wrote all five of his violin concertos in the space of 9 months, and the fifth is the most original of all combining virtuosic violin writing with humour and warmth. Sibelius’ Romance may be just five minutes long, but it contains a whirlwind of emotions from tender longing to angst and back to serenity. Haydn’s symphony is beautiful and inventive.
